Cancer patients are at high risk for infection, serious illness, and death from COVID-19 and need vaccination guidance and support. Guidance availability in the English language only is a major limit for recommendations' delivery and their application in the world's population and generates information inequalities across the different populations. Methods: Most of the available COVID-19 vaccination guidance for cancer patients was screened and scrutinized by the European Cancer Patients Coalition (ECPC) and an international oncology panel of 52 physicians from 33 countries. Results: A summary guidance was developed and provided in 28 languages in order to reach more than 70 percent of the global population. Conclusion: Language barrier and e-guidance availability in the native language are the most important barriers when communicating with patients. E-guidance availability in various native languages should be considered a major priority by international medical and health organizations that are communicating with patients at the global level.Item Allergic diseases and immunodeficiencies in children, lessons learnt from COVID-19 pandemic by 2022: A statement from the EAACI-section on pediatrics(WILEY, 2022-01-01) Munblit, Daniel; Greenhawt, Matthew; Brough, Helen A.; Pushkareva, Anna; Karimova, Diana; Demidova, Anastasia; Warner, John O.; Kalayci, Omer; Sediva, Anna; Untersmayr, Eva; Rodriguez del Rio, Pablo; Vazquez-Ortiz, Marta; Arasi, Stefania; Alvaro-Lozano, Montserrat; Tsabouri, Sophia; Galli, Elena; Beken, Burcin; Eigenmann, Philippe A.By the April 12, 2022, the COVID-19 pandemic had resulted in over half a billion people being infected worldwide. There have been 6.1 million deaths directly due to the infection, but the pandemic has had many more short- and long-term pervasive effects on the physical and mental health of the population. Allergic diseases are among the most prevalent noncommunicable chronic diseases in the pediatric population, and health-care professionals and researchers were seeking answers since the beginning of pandemic. Children are at lower risk of developing severe COVID-19 or dying from infection. Allergic diseases are not associated with a higher COVID-19 severity and mortality, apart from severe/poorly controlled asthma. The pandemic disrupted routine health care, but many mitigation strategies, including but not limited to telemedicine, were successfully implemented to continue delivery of high-standard care. Although children faced a multitude of pandemic-related issues, allergic conditions were effectively treated remotely while reduction in air pollution and lack of contact with outdoor allergens resulted in improvement, particularly respiratory allergies. There is no evidence to recommend substantial changes to usual management modalities of allergic conditions in children, including allergen immunotherapy and use of biologicals. Allergic children are not at greater risk of multisystem inflammatory syndrome development, but some associations with Long COVID were reported, although the data are limited, and further research is needed. This statement of the EAACI Section on Pediatrics provides recommendations based on the lessons learnt from the pandemic, as available evidence.Item Burden of community-acquired pneumonia in adults over 18y of age(TAYLOR \& FRANCIS INC, 2017-01-01) Kosar, Filiz; Alici, Devrim Emel; Hacibedel, Basak; Yigitbas, Burcu Arpinar; Golabi, Pejman; Cuhadaroglu, CaglarThis study aimed to determine the economic burden and affecting factors in adult community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) patients (>= 18years) by retrospectively evaluating the data of 2 centers in Istanbul province, Turkey. Data of outpatients and inpatients with CAP from January 2013 through June 2014 were evaluated. The numbers of laboratory analyses, imaging, hospitalization days, and specialist visits were multiplied by the relevant unit costs and the costs of the relevant items per patient were obtained. Total medication costs were calculated according to the duration of use and dosage. The mean age was 61.56 +/- 17.87y for the inpatients (n = 211Item The characteristics of COVID-19 vaccine-related headache: Clues gathered from the healthcare personnel in the pandemic(SAGE PUBLICATIONS LTD, 2022-01-01) Ekizoglu, Esme; Gezegen, Hasim; Yalinay Dikmen, Pinar; Orhan, Elif Kocasoy; Ertas, Mustafa; Baykan, BetulIntroduction Headache is a frequent adverse event after viral vaccines. We aimed to investigate the frequency and clinical associations of COVID-19 vaccine-related headache. Methods The characteristics, associations of this headache, main comorbidities, headache history following the influenza vaccine and during COVID-19 were investigated using a web-based questionnaire. Results A total of 1819 healthcare personnel (mean age: 44.4 +/- 13.4 years, 1222 females), vaccinated with inactivated virus, contributed to the survey
